All coaches, parents, referees, and volunteers associated with the Vancouver West Soccer Club are required to complete the National Background Check Application. This applies even if you have previously submitted this type of form. Please ensure you use your full given names—no nicknames or abbreviations.
In order to finalize your volunteer registration, the following steps MUST be completed and uploaded:
All coaches, assistant coaches, managers, and anyone working directly with players must ensure the following are completed:
- SafeSport Training
- Intro to Safety – which includes Concussion Certification and Sudden Cardiac Arrest Certification
- Risk Status (Background check) and Season Registration – be sure to select Spring 2025
All certifications must be obtained through the US Soccer Learning Center. Certifications from other sources will not be accepted by the association. Additionally, all certifications must remain current and not expire during the season. Please note, you cannot renew them more than 60 days prior to their expiration.
Process:
1. Complete the required training certifications annually.
- For SafeSport: If you have previously completed SafeSport, find your SafeSport ID number on your past certificate.
- For Intro to Safety: The training covering Concussion and Sudden Cardiac Arrest has been combined into the Intro to Safety course on the US Soccer Learning Center.
2. Complete your background check:
- Background checks will require your Social Security Number (SSN), ensuring it matches your name. Providing false information will result in denial, and you will be required to redo the process. Please note that I or anyone in the club cannot access this information. If you do not possess an SSN, please contact me so I can assist with state protocols.
Steps to follow:
1. For SafeSport and Intro to Safety, click HERE to access the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. It’s important that your name, email, and date of birth match your Sports Connect (Affinity) account; any discrepancies will prevent your clearance.
- Click on Supplemental Courses.
- SafeSport and Intro to Safety are displayed at the top.
2. Click HERE to initiate the background checking process. Ensure you select Spring 2025:
- English: [Association Connect State Compliance]
- Spanish: [Asociación Conectar Cumplimiento Estatal]
Your name, date of birth, and email address must correspond across both the US Soccer Learning Center and Sports Connect (where you’ll handle your RMA/background check). If they do not match, your certificates will not sync, and you will be unable to complete the background check.
