Frequently Asked Questions

Have questions about our  program? Here are some common inquiries answered to help you get started on your soccer journey.

  • How much does it cost to play?

    For Fall season, the player registration fees are $100 , not including uniforms or  transaction fee. 

    For Spring Season the player registration fees are $90 for all players, not including uniforms transaction fee. 

    Our goal is to make soccer accessible for all so if anyone is having difficulties paying, they should contact Rachelle Beatty at vancouverwestsc@gmail.com


  • What age group is my child?

    All players register in the year they were born in.  AGE CHART see below.

  • When do sign-ups begin?

    Fall season registration will be open May 15th. Returning players from the 2025 Spring Season have until June 30th to register to be placed back on the same team. All other requests will be based on registration date.

    Spring Season - registration opens Jan 15th, returning players must be registered by Feb 28th for returning team placement.

  • When do practices start?

    Practice times and start dates vary depending on your team. Most teams will begin practicing mid/late March/August. Most teams practice twice per week. Fall - mid/late August, Spring - mid/late March.

  • When are games?

    Fall season games will be on Friday evenings, or during the day on Saturdays. Games start the Saturday after Labor Day, end first week of November. Spring Season - after spring break, end second week of June.

  • How do I register?

    For accuracy of player information, we offer on-line registration. Registration is not considered complete until payment has been received and posted to your account, and we have verified that we have received a state issued birth certificate or current passport to prove date of birth. Registration is initiated online. Please click on the Registration link  to get started once registration is open.

  • Does my child have to try-out?

    Tryouts are not part of the recreational soccer program. Try-outs are held for players aged 9 and older wishing to play at an advanced level of competition. These teams are Advanced Competition teams and only play other Advanced Competition teams. All other teams are recreational teams, players are assigned based on last year's team, team request, and sign-up date.

  • Can my child keep the same coach he/she had last year?

    We encourage all players to register as soon as possible so we can try and honor team and coach requests. There are no guarantees - but players who register by June 30th (fall), Feb 28th (spring) typically are granted their request.

  • I changed my mind; can I get a refund?

    Yes, as long as you request a refund on or before Fall-June 30th Spring-February 28th. Exception: doctor’s note stating player cannot play for the season or if you have moved out of the area. There is a $10 service fee for all refunds.

  • When will I know what team, my child is on?

    We start forming teams in July (Fall) and will have rosters to coaches mid-July, if you do not hear from a coach by August 1, please contact Rachelle; March (Spring) and will have rosters to coaches mid-March. If you do not hear from a coach by March 31st, contact Rachelle Beatty at vancouverwestsc@gmail.com

  • Where do I buy the uniform?

    All uniforms are purchased through the club during your online registration process.

    U5-U8 t-shirts are included in registration cost.

    U9 + older - $50 for full kit, includes socks, shorts and 2 jerseys (black + green)

  • Is my child old enough to play soccer?

    For the fall season, if your child was born in the 2020 year, he/she is eligible to play see age chart below.

  • If I played for Vancouver West Soccer Club prior to this year, must I turn in my birth certificate?

    You must upload a state issued birth certificate or passport when you register for soccer.  As long as you submitted one recently you may not need to again. If you are not sure, please contact Rachelle Beatty at vancouverwestsc@gmail.com to verify if a birth certificate is needed.

  • Will you accept a hospital issued birth certificate?

    No, Washington State Youth Soccer (WYS) requires all players to submit a state issued certificate of live birth or current passport in order to be assigned to a team. Hospital certificates are NOT accepted.

  • What age groups do you cater to?

    We offer programs for children aged 4 to 18, ensuring that every young player has the opportunity to learn and grow in a supportive environment.
  • How are the age groups structured?

    Our age groups are structured to provide age-appropriate training, all players register in the year they were born in. This allows players to develop their skills alongside peers of similar ages.

  • Can my child move up an age group?

    Yes! If your child demonstrates advanced skills and readiness, we can discuss options for them to participate in an older age group.
  • What if my child is new to soccer?

    No problem! We welcome beginners in all age groups. Our coaches are dedicated to helping new players feel comfortable and excited about learning the game.
  • How do I register my child?

    Registration is easy! Simply visit our registration page, select the appropriate age group, and fill out the necessary information.
